Happies & Crappies...

Hey everyone
I can't believe that I forgot to link up with {the vintage modern wife} & {scissors and a whisk} last week! But here I am back again (guess who's back....:P) this week to take stock of this week in the form of my...

I managed to get through my first block of placement - and actually loved every minute of it! I'm so thankful I got the opportunity to get some proper lab experience :)

I had a lovely night of pampering tonight to treat myself for working so hard :)

I plan on doing some serious shopping this weekend :)

I'm going to see Mcfly next weekend!!! #soexcited

I'm actually going to a uni event at the end of exams - mainly because MDL are playing :P #loyalfan

I got an 84 in my research presentation - I thought it went terribly so I'm so happy!

I am gonna miss placement this next month (I can't believe I'm actually saying that!)

I have my first final on Monday - and I've only done a few hours revision so far - yeh, this weekend is going to be cram central :(

I also have to finish a reflection and the intro for a poster for Monday :(

I had crazy migraines for a couple of days this week - it sucked :(

Happies>Crappies count: 5 weeks :)

Every Day Make Up...

Hey everyone

I've recently established a host of 'holy grail' products. Previously I'd been flitting about between different brands and products and just not really hitting it off with any of them (especially foundation - I was buying a new foundation probably close to every time I went to Boots - ridiculous!) - until now!

expert face brush - this {real techniques} brush is my newest discovery and I love it! Before this I'd just been using {ELF} brushes so I thought it was high time I invested in a proper brush :)

touch eclat - I've resisted getting {this} for ages (I've been 'borrowing' Ma's for ages) and just put up with other under-eye concealers that just weren't as good - I can honestly see why there is all the hype around this - it's awesome!

supercurl - I received a tester of this with another purchase from {urban decay} and absolutely fell in love! It makes me eyelashes look really long - albeit not very curled as the name suggests - but I love how they make my eyelashes look anyways :)

naked skin - as I mentioned above I have been on the search for my fave foundation for quite a while but then {this beauty} fell into my life and I'm in love. It couldn't be more perfect - it feels light and soft on the skin, the coverage is impeccable, it lasts literally all day without touch-ups (I'm talking 8 hours - that's impressive!) and I don't need to add powder or anything. I highly recommend it!

eye bright - {benefit} has the most perfect brightener I've ever found - I wear it in my inner corner and on my waterline and just love how it looks!

eyebrow kit - I'm relatively new to filling in my eyebrows so I don't see the need to spend loads on a brow kit so {ELF} saves the day!

24/7 glide on - I've just realised that this is the third product out of seven that is from {urban decay} - I promise I'm not sponsored by them or anything (I wish!!) but anyway, I have issues with eyeliner and I hate it when I can feel it tugging on my waterline so this one is perfect - it is the softest but most pigmented eye liner I've ever used! Plus it stays put for quite a while - always good when eye liner is concerned!

I'm always on the look out for new products so what make up do you use? Let me know in the comments!

MWIP 17/52...

Hey everyone

Wow - this week was a quiet one! I was crazy busy with placement so perhaps that was why I wasn't quite as snap happy as I usually am - my apologies - but I didn't want to {ruin my new years resolution} so here we are...

this week I...

...realised Ma's amaryllis finally flowered...

...isn't it gorgeous?

...discovered this little Princess enjoyed playing with curlers - what a monster!

...literally flew threw this book - it was incredible! I wrote a {review} of it for Book Club Friday last week if you fancy reading more about it!

What did you get up to this week?

Most Wanted...

Hey everyone

I haven't shared a wishlist with y'all for ages so I thought one was waaay overdue...

{bioderma} - I really need to get around to trying this!
{summer hat} - I posted in the winter about how I'm {obsessed} with hats and as summer roles around I still am! I love all the straw hats out at the minute - I'd like to think I'd be brave enough to rock this one!
{boat shoes} - these need to make their way into my wardrobe ASAP!
{twistbands} - I have a couple of these and love them - they don't tangle my hair at all! And I've just discovered that I can buy them here - win!
{trousers} - I would never wear these but there's no denying it - they're pretty awesome!
{nail polish} - diamonds. 'nuff said.
{mint!} - I love mint. There I admitted it - now I can go ahead and purchase yet another mint item, right? :P
{mascara} - I've been using up a sample of this and I really like it - I think this will become a permanent feature in my makeup bag!
{bubble necklace} - another trend I really need to jump on! I really want to start wearing some chunky necklaces - and the bubble one has to be my first one, don't you think?
{dress} - now though the trousers may not be that wearable, I think this dress totally is - le sigh - it's just beautiful!

What's on your wishlist at the moment?

Book Club Friday: Silent Killer...

Hey everyone

I haven't linked up with Blonde...Undercover Blonde for ages and ages (silly uni work getting in the way of my reading time!) but on placement I've taken to reading a book on my breaks and am loving it!

I felt compelled to share this book with you all this week seeing as it was one of the best books I've read in a long time - it only took me just two and a half days worth of breaks to read so it must have been a page-turner!

This week I'm sharing - Silent Killer by Beverly Barton

Synopsis (via Goodreads
To most people, men like Mark Cantrell are fine, upstanding pillars of the community, completely beyond reproach. But their killer knows better. They are sinners of the worst kind, and they must burn on earth before they burn in hell…

Eighteen months after her husband’s unsolved murder, Cathy Cantrell has returned to her Alabama home, eager to build a new life for herself and her son. But pieces of her past are everywhere—including Jackson Perdue, the town’s deputy sheriff. The spate of recent deaths—each victim burned in the same horrifying manner—leave Jack and Cathy in no doubt that a serial killer is at work, one whose rage grows more vicious each day…

Now as a twisted killer moves in for a final, brutal act of vengeance, buried crimes are coming to light once more. And this time, justice will be swift, merciless, and as silent as the grave…

My Thoughts

I picked this book up completely on a whim (I was trying to find a third book so I could get the 3 for £5 offer at a local bookstore) and just though the blurb sounded rather intriguing - and I'm a sucker for anything related to the South - just mention Alabama and I'm sold :P

I was absolutely sucked into this book right from the very first few pages - admittedly I did get a tad confused at the start with all the different characters being introduced all at once but I soon figured who everyone was - and to be honest each character has a pretty clear 'voice' so it didn't take much getting used to to recognise them all.

What I probably liked most about this book was the fact it really kept me guessing who the 'Fire and Brimstone Killer' was - I changed my mind at least a dozen times throughout! But, oh my life - was there a plot twist at the end or what?!! I no way expected the killer to be who it turned out to be - but it totally made sense in the end - skillful story weaving right there!

My fave part of the book was the romance between Cathy and Jack (I wouldn't mind meeting a Jack in my life to be honest! :P) - it was just the right about of romance without been over the top romantic or verging on graphic.

My fave character (after Jack of course) was Seth - gosh he was so darned adorabubble! Loves him! Sadly there were some characters that I felt were just a tad unnecessary :( but heyho that's not the end of the world really.

Talking of characters - the inclusion of some anonymous ramblings from the Killer - I thought that was really clever in reminding the reader of the Killer and leaving clues as to who it could be. I thought it was really interesting that the author chose the Killer to believe that God was speaking to them and rid the world of sinning 'fake' prophets (I'm not giving anything away here - I promise!) - it was a really interesting take on the standard Killer profile.

As a said I flew through this book super fast - I couldn't wait to figure out who the Killer was but when I reached the end I was kinda sad to leave those characters behind - the sign of a good book in my mind :)

Also - when looking at goodreads for the blurb I found out that this is actually no.10 in a series - you can bet I'm gonna check out some of the other books too!! :)

Would you read this book?

Sperry Dilemma??...

Hey everyone

So I was perusing the {schuh} website last night (I was looking at TOMS as potential summer work shoes but that's a story for another post :P) and yay-ed out loud with excitement when I saw that they had started stocking some Sperrys!!!

I've been wanted some Sperrys for about three years now - I have some red/white/blue and some brown boat shoes from another brand, {Moshulu} I think, which I do love but I've always lusted after the real McCoy that is Sperrys.

Here's where you guys come in: I really need your help in deciding which ones to get so I've be so so so grateful if you'd let me know which ones you think I should get - the problem is; I love them all!

The tan 'Anglefish'

The white & navy 'Lola'

The pink 'Anglefish'
The green 'Lola'

What do you think?

On a somewhat side note: these are definitely going in my cart!
How awesome are they?!

So, pretty please help me with my Sperry Dilemma - which ones would you get? Or if you already have some lemme know which ones you have?

Fun Finds...

Hey everyone

So I was checking out the {Urban Outfitters} site after finding {these} great finds the other day and found some more awesome finds that I just had to share with y'all!

{tape} - I actually cannot deal with how cute this fairy light tape is!
{mug} - I'm a massive tea-lover and as every British person knows you can't have tea without a biscuit! How handy is having a biscuit pocket attached to the mug?!
{hipflask} - I'm not a big drinker but I adore this tiffany blue glitter hipflask - isn't it precious?!
{iPad case} - I just love this collage style case!
{wall art} - I adore literature and Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde is one of my favourite books ever so this wall art is actually perfect for me!
{ring holder} - how sweet are these little bunnies?! I love this just as a piece of art seeing as I don't wear many rings :)
{library kit} - this is literally the coolest thing I have seen in ages! A kit to make your books at home like a library - how awesome?!
side note: one of the main reasons I became a librarian in highschool was just for the fact that I could use the cool stampy/scan-y thing to issue books!
{hipflask} - I couldn't not include this hipflask simply for the saying - how cute?!
{wall art} - The Great Gatsby is another one of my fave books - I think a few of these pieces of wall art would look so cute on the walls of a little reading nook - don't you think?

Let me know what you think of these fun finds!

...helped Ma choose her new dresser - isn't it cute?!

...had to look after a poorly Princess after her operation :(

...soon realised she really wasn't a fan of her lampshade :(

Obsession: Hand Cream...

 Hey everyone

Since I've started placement and have had to start washing my hands approx. (no exaggeration) a million times a day (I'm on placement in the Path Lab of a hospital fyi) I've found that my hands have become super dry and yucky :(

So, I've been on the hunt (read: furiously googling) for the perfect moisturising yet not greasy hand cream and I thought I'd share my possibilities with you and also ask for your recommendations too?

Happies & Crappies...

Hey everyone
Today I'm once again linking up with {the vintage modern wife} & {scissors and a whisk} again to take stock of this week in the form of my...

I had another awesome week of placement! - I managed not to throw up when I was dealing with tissue specimens, I had a great time doing some special stains & tried my hand at immunohistochemistry! This makes my decision so much tougher seeing as I was expecting not to like histo as much as I did!

I was cutting some samples and was getting really stressed because I thought I was doing it all wrong but turns out I was doing it right - my mentor said it was some of the best first attempt at cutting she'd ever seen!

I had a lovely time on Sunday - I got to spend the whole day with the bf seeing as he had the day off work! We had a really chilled day, we took Princess for a walk in the morning then had Sunday roast at Nams, I had to do some work in the afternoon but then we watched 'Hotel Transylvania' (such a good film!) and snuggled up with a Chinese #perfect

I'm celebrating the 'Friday Feeling' with some 'Peanut Butter Me Up' and something on LOVEFiLM - perfection :)

I feel even more stressed out with placement work than I did last week!

I am literally soooo tired - I mean I was in bed and sleeping by 9pm most of this week!

Poor puppy had to go for an operation today - she is not a happy bunny :(

Happies>Crappies count: 4 weeks :)

Sticky Notes...

Hey everyone

So I'm a massive fan of sticky notes. Like seriously. I think it's an addiction.

Please tell me some of you are obsessed over sticky notes like I am?!

Anyways I was perusing the {Urban Outfitters} site on a whim and stumbled across some of the cutest desk supplies I've ever seen! I couldn't resist sharing them with you...

How cute are they all?! Plus they aren't too expensive!

I especially love the {paper tweet} one - it's so 'Belle' it's unbelievable!

Which one is your fave? Where's your favourite place to get sticky notes?
