Book Club Friday: Catching Fire...

Hey everyone

Thanks to Blonde...Undercover Blonde for this link up :) I'm doing tons of reading at the moment (as in 3 books a week - yes, I have a problem :P) so I'm looking forward to sharing my fave book of that week with you all :)

This week I'm going to admit how late I've jumped on the bandwagon with series by sharing a book I'm sure you've all already read - Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Synopsis (via GoodReads(I don't know why I'm bothering to post this because this book's so well known but heyho!)
Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol-- a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.

Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.

In Catching Fire, the second novel of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before... and surprising readers at every turn

My Thoughts
Primarily; good god! This book was awesome! It kept me engaged all the way through and had me turning the pages (well pressing the page turn button!) like a mad women! I got so emotionally invested in the characters that I was literally saying to Ma as I was reading 'ohmigosh, no way, this can't happened...how could she do that' and I know that that's probably due to the characterisation from the first book but this book was so much more that a stop gap between the other two books as I've found some 2nd books in trilogies are. I definitely liked this more so than The Hunger Games and I loved that, so that's saying something! Amazing plot, pace, characterisation - just generally awesome! I'm still kicking myself for not picking up this series before (I'm putting off reading the third book becauseI don't want it to end, haha!)

Did you like reading this book?

MWIP...

Hey everyone

It's MWIP time again - it seems like it's come around so fast this week because of how late I uploaded last weeks MWIP or maybe it's just because I've been super busy this week! Anyways here we go....

Whilst at the outlet with Ma, I picked up another couple of norts - what can I say; I'm obsessed!

This weeks colour was OPI's 'Brights Power'. Side note: not too impressed with this formula - it was rather sheer and seemed to chip really easily :S

Ma was messing about and put some flowers in my hair

The bf bought me my first Subway - why have I never had a Subway before?! I had Chicken and Bacon Ranch Melt - beaut! What's your standard Subway order?

Snuggly dressing gown, PLL & a cup of tea = perfect night :)
I baked some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies - I'm not particularly gifted at baking but these turned out okay  and were soo yummy! :)

Re-discovered my love for ruffled tank tops :)

I downloaded series 2 of PLL ready for me and the bf to watch. He's been adamant that he'd hate PLL for the last few months since I've started watching (and raving) about it but he finally broke down and watched a late episode from the first series with me and then proceeded to ask for the series from the beginning onto his iPod - he loves it now! (well he's admitted it's pretty good which is basically the same :P)

The bf and I picked up some old-school Pick'n'Mix from town :)

I popped into a shop in town and found they were having a '3 for £5' on all their books - my idea of heaven! So I left with: The Shiver/Linger/Forever Trilogy (I've wanted to read this series for ages but I've always been unsure as to whether I'd like it so this opportunity to get all 3 for less than the cost of 1 was too good to pass up! Have any of you read these? Are they any good?), Kiss and Tell (I'll read any horse related book on the market), Dracula & Sherlock Holmes (both to add to my classics reading list)

How awesome is my new Mickey Mouse jumper?!

I spent a couple of days this week going back to highschool to do some painting and generally help out with prep for the musical (I was stage manager for all the musicals when I was in highschool and college so I really wanted to go back to experience it all again). This is the result of a days painting a backdrop at the top of a massive ladder - sucks when you're the only one ladder trained :P

Hope you all had an awesome week :)

One Lovely Blog Award....

Hey everyone

I was tagged (not once but twice - imagine my surprise/elation - eeep!) for the 'One Lovely Blog Award' by Becky @ PreppyPremed & Elizabeth @ MoonlightGoodbyes so thank you muchlies to both of you. It honestly means so much to know that you actually read my blog let alone like it enough to nominate me for an award - so seriously - thank you :)
Now I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to share 7 random things about me with you or answer the questions so (seeing as I have nothing else to do but write this post to avoid the football on the TV) I'm going to do both, so here we go...

1. I've never watched any of the classic Disney movies - I'm talking about Cinderella, Snow White, etc. It's crazy, right?
2. I think I'm getting to the age where I'm actually thinking about marriage - and that's a scary thought.
3. I loved stage managing when I was in high school and college
4. I have developed a obsession for norts (do other people have this obsession too?!)
5. I have planned out my order for various American fast food joints if the occasion arose that I ever visited them #nojudgement
6.I never want to move from my childhood home - I love the house, the garden, the area - it's just perfect
7. I hate any perfume that is overly florally scented

Wow, well they were pretty random! Now onto the questions...

1. What is your fave dessert?
This is a tough one because I have a definite sweet tooth so I'm just gonna have to say anything chocolate; brownies, cookies, cheescake, fudge cake...

2. When you're upset, what do you do?
Play the paino - it's been my relief for everything, I love how I can just lose myself and concentrate on a piece of music.

3. What was my fave pet?
I feel mean choosing between my pets but seeing as the question is in the past tense I'm going to say my cat - Trebor. I miss him so much.

4. What so you prefer; black or white?
In my mind nothing beats a white tee as a basic but there is an awful lot of black in my wardrobe (though not in a goth-y way I promise!) so probs black.

5. What is your biggest fear?
I don't do so well with heights or small spaces or the sight of my own blood (I'm fine with anyone else's though, haha) but probably my biggest fear is failure - I'm a perfectionist, failure is not an option.

6.What is your attitude mostly?
Definitely a 'glass half full' kinda girl. I always try to inject a bit of optimism and positivity into every situation I encounter.

7. What is perfection to you?
Ahh so tough to answer! Lots of things; a cloudless blue sky, finally nailing that piece of music I've been struggling with, an afternoon spent with a good book, discovering new words, walks at night, an awesome sandwich...

Thanks again for the tag :)

Top Five Tuesday: Celebrity Crushes...

Hey everyone

I'm linking up Rachel from Just Peachy today - sharing my celeb crushes :)

1) Danny Jones, Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd & Dougie Poynter ie. Mcfly. I couldn't choose between these guys, they all have to be part of my top 5 celeb crushes. I've been an avid Mcfly fan since Obviously was released. So much hotness in one picture :P

2) Jonas Armstrong. Loved him since I started watching the BBC Robin Hood series. Best. Robin. Ever. That smile - woah.

3) Joe Hart. This guy is a recent addition to my crush list since I watched the football on Sunday. Phwoarr - 'tis all.

4) Wilson Bethel. Unfortunate name but that can be overlooked for his hotness factor, especially in this Mr Darcy-esque photo :P

5) Zac Efron. Like a fine wine he seems to have just gotten better with age - loved him since HSM #awhh

via
5) Tom Felton. Another dude that's gotten better with age. Ridiculously hot and he plays guitar. Perfect.

Now, I'm not entirely sure if these next guys could be classed as 'celebrities' so I'm putting them in the Honourable Mentions category:
Jamie Laing - star of Made In Chelsea - he is my absolute fave character. He's such a cheeky chap and a total babe :)

Prince Harry - My fave royal by far. I love how relaxed and funny he appears to be all the time. That smile.

Hope you enjoyed this post and aren't drooling too much :P Who are your celeb crushes?

Help?

Hey everyone

So I'm re-decorating my room in the next few weeks and I've decided I want a wall decal with an awesome quote on it. Trouble is I can't pick a quote to have, I was wondering if y'all could help me out and leave some suggestions of your fave quotes in the comments maybe - I'd seriously love you forever (in a non-creepy way obviously :P)

Hope you're all having an awesome weekend :D

MWIP...

Hey everyone
Here's this weeks MWIP (my apologies for it being a teensy bit late, but it's summer so I'm sure you know how it is - busy busy busy!) - please feel free to comment (I love reading them) :)

I've become obsessed with this style of shoe, not that I even wear heels that much but I just think that these are gorgeous! Desperately trying to resist buying them considering that they are only £40. What do you think - yay or nay?
We had another three days of summery weather this week so I broke out the Raybans. Too bad it's back to being cloudy and drizzley again now. Come on English weather, sort yourself out!
This week was the on of the last few times I will have been sleeping in my room the way it is decorated at the moment - I'm redecorating in the next couple of weeks - yay! I'm thinking of going for the colour combination navy, white & gold - what do y'all think?

Beautiful sunset from Ma's room on Tuesday evening :)

This cooling mist thingy has been my saviour after working out on those (few) hot days - so refreshing :)
My favourite drink of the summer. Hands down. No questions asked.

I found OPI's Cajun Shrimp in Ma's collection and just had to try it. I love it - new fave for sure!

The bf - looking all stylish in his new chinos (tbh this is the first time I've seen him in trousers that aren't jeans or suit trousers - love it)

New favourite snackage: hummus, breadstick and carrot sticks - yum (and sort of healthy too if the hummus is low fat - yay!)

Whilst starting to tidy up my bedroom in preparation for redecorating I found all of my locker keys from high school - god knows why I kept them!

Also whilst tidying my room I found a selection of tongue bars - I have never had my tongue pierced or even considered getting it pierced so I seriously don't know why I have these!

I had chocolate pudding for dessert last night because I am evidently still a child #sorryimnotsorry

first time this year wearing flip flops - love my bright green Havianas :)

My first time trying sushi - to be honest it wasn't too terrible. It's not something I'd choose to eat regularly but if Ma wants to go to a sushi bar I will be able to accompany her now (I never would before because I thought I'd hate it!) Anyone else a fan of sushi?

This week I had to work out in the bf's hightops because my converse were still drying from being washed - classy, right?!

I went yummy shopping yesterday :) I don't know what it is but I find food shopping so relaxing and enjoyable - anyone else find this?

Hope you all had a lovely week :) Let me know what you've been up to in the comments :)

Everything Changes...

*Apologies in advance for this being a downy vein post but I need to vent and here seemed like the only place I could do so.*

Today is not a good in the life of Belle.
Today is the day when my parents get divorced.
It's been three years since my dad left us and to be honest I don't think I ever dealt with it properly and it's only just hitting me now.
Life with Belle at the moment isn't great - a lot of thinking and telling of home truths is required me thinks.

This is definitely true for me and the bf. Both are parents are divorced (or will be after today) and yet we have managed to find happiness and love with eachother - and for that I will always be grateful.

Welcome To My Room...

Hey everyone
So I figured I'd do a little room tour post before I redecorate my room (if only for my memories!). I figured maybe some of you would like to see my room too - I always think that you can get so much about a persons personality if you see their room :)
I brought this little guy back from one of my last trips to Spain and I loves him :) he's a little hanging orangatan that just hangs in the entrance to my room - he shrieks when someone walks past - so funny it happens when people aren't expecting it :P
The net thing holds all of my cuddlies from when I was little that I just can't part with - is it just me who has this hoarding problem?
The back of my door houses a variety of canvas bags and my JW slipper bags

The front off my door holds my dressing gown/cape-thing and my longchamp
I painted my walls just plain white so then I could put pictures up and such without fear of them clashing or anything. I have a postcard from my most favourite holiday destination, a boomerang, a canvas my friend made me for my 17th birthday, a campervan tile and card (because I am legit obsessed with campervans), a drawing of my name that another of my friends did and a note the bf wrote.
So this bookcase situation holds general stuffs, my jewellery case, my make up/skin/hair products, nail polishes and of course the two of my top shelves are dedicate to my campervan collection - I loves them!

My mirror is set on a mini drawer/hanger set which I hang my long necklaces on.

Next to my bookshelves is my CD rack - I'm old school and like to keep my actual CDs even though I have a digital copy n my iTunes - just me?

In front of that is my tv stand and my handbag :)
My window and view onto my lane :)

My bed with my striped wall plaques behind it - I thought they looked slightly Kate Spade-esque (maybe that's just me) (please ignore the gap where another wall plaque should have been - it fell off :/)

The lights on that wall were definitely one of my fave parts of my room - they're from the kids section of ikea (love that place).

My desk area with my photo wall and my bookshelves/DVD shelf above it. Underneath houses my Stitch collection - my fave Disney character ever!
I have 2 double wardrobes either side of my desk and I still have to use a wardrobe in my spare room #firstworldproblems

Next to my bed I have my bedside table and then a collection of cushions/pillows - I sort of collect cushions and my collection now is too big to fit on my bed :/ so they've found a home on the floor. I like how cosy and comfy they make my room feel :)

As much as I love my room I feel that it needs updating to be a little more grown-up and mature. Sadly this means I have to remove my ikea lights and my campervan collection - well maybe not all of them haha :P

What's your favourite part of your room?

aHm xoxo
